Sean McGovern launches legal action against Portlaoise Prison governor

Cartel number 2 Sean McGovern has issued proceedings against the Governor of Portlaoise Prison and the Minister for Justice in what is believed to be a complaint about the conditions in which he is held.
McGovern was arrested in October 2024 in Dubai, returned to Ireland in May 2025, and earlier this year pleaded guilty to directing a criminal organisation.
He got 24 years but he remains in custody on the A block despite numerous requests to move in with his mob pal Peadar Keating on the C block.
