Garnett Spears
Lacey Spears oli aina haaveillut omista lapsista. Hän hoivasi jo nuorena ystäviensä lapsia, tarjoutui näille lapsenvahdiksi ja teki töitä päiväkodissa pienten lasten ryhmässä. Kun Lacey vihdoin sai ensimmäisen oman lapsensa, pojan nimeltä Garnett, hän oli onnensa kukkuloilla. Jo pian tuli kuitenkin selville, että Garnett oli sairas ja hänellä oli paljon erilaisia terveydellisiä ongelmia. Sairaalan henkilökunta alkoi epäillä Laceyn kertomuksia Garnetin sairauksista - oliko Garnett todella niin sairas, kuin Lacey antoi ymmärtää?
