On Wednesday, FIFA stripped Indonesia of their hosting rights of this year's Under-20 World Cup, after a series of protests against Israel’s participation in the tournament, and several government officials’ refusal to welcome the Israeli football team. How did the situation reach such a breaking point? Closer to home, Minister Sim Ahn was criticised for disrupting a live music performance at the Esplanade when she entered the venue and started greeting people in the audience.
